GENERAL
DAVID GREER
SCHOLARSHIP
NURTURING FUTURES AND EMPOWERING IRAQI YOUTH
For Iraqi refugee youth in Jordan, access to education is not guaranteed. They are barred from attending public schools and must either pay to attend private institutions or face the reality of missing out on education entirely. This is where the General David Greer Scholarship steps in as a vital lifeline.
Established in 2022, this scholarship goes beyond financial aid—it breaks down the barriers that prevent refugee children from accessing the education they deserve. By opening doors to private Christian schools, it offers these displaced youth a chance to succeed academically and build brighter futures.
Rooted in faith, the scholarship fosters resilience, growth and a sense of purpose. It empowers students to rise above adversity and become positive contributors to society. The General David Greer Scholarship isn’t just an investment in education—it’s a catalyst for lasting change, giving every student the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
HONORING GENERAL GREER'S LEGACY
In July 2020, American FRRME lost its beloved former Executive Director, General David Greer, whose passion for service and dedication to education touched the lives of many. His vision was clear: to empower refugees through education and give them the tools to create better futures for themselves.
In loving memory of his commitment, we established the General David Greer Scholarship, a tribute to his legacy that provides Iraqi refugee students with the financial support they need to attend school. This annual scholarship opens doors to education for hardworking and dedicated young refugees, offering them hope for a brighter future—something that was so close to General Greer’s heart.
Join us in keeping his vision alive. By contributing to the General David Greer Scholarship Fund, you help ensure these vulnerable youth have the opportunity to pursue their education and build a better tomorrow.

Imagine Longing for Something
as Essential as Education
For millions of refugee children, education is more than a pathway to knowledge—it’s a lifeline. Education shapes futures, yet for many, this fundamental right is out of reach. Of the 7.9 million refugee children worldwide, only about 50% have access to formal schooling. Globally, while 91% of children attend primary school, only 68% of refugee children are enrolled at the same level. By the time refugee children reach secondary school age, that number drops to just 34%. Without access to education, these children are at risk of falling into child labor, exploitation and recruitment by harmful influences. Education is crucial in keeping them safe and providing a pathway to a brighter, more secure future.
Education doesn’t just equip refugee children with knowledge; it empowers them to rebuild their lives, their families, and their communities. Access to education provides hope, stability and the chance to break free from the cycles of displacement and hardship.
