REBUILDING LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS

At American FRRME, we are dedicated to restoring hope and rebuilding the futures of persecuted Christians in Iraq. In the wake of ISIS’s devastation, our mission is to help those affected reclaim their sense of purpose, regain their self-worth and embrace new beginnings.

Our efforts extend across two critical regions in Iraq: Baghdad and the Nineveh Plains. In the Nineveh Plains, we are committed to rebuilding shattered communities and fostering resilience through livelihood support, community development and economic empowerment.

In Baghdad, we support St. George’s Church, a cornerstone for the local Christian community, through its vital ministry, clinic, food pantry and elementary school. Our work in both regions focuses on restoring dignity, renewing faith and reestablishing a sense of normalcy for those rebuilding their lives.

Whether by supporting vital services at St. George’s Church or rebuilding livelihoods and communities in the Nineveh Plains, we remain steadfast in our mission to help Iraqi Christians build a brighter, more hopeful future.

NINEVEH RESTORATION INITIATIVE: Rebuilding the Heart of the Nineveh Plains

In 2014, ISIS ravaged the Nineveh Plains in Iraq, forcing Christians and other minorities to flee. Despite ISIS’s defeat, the ongoing instability and lack of economic opportunities have made it difficult for many to return home. By supporting returnees and the courageous Christians who remained, American FRRME and its partners jointly fund 10 diverse programs aimed at revitalizing local economies, reviving villages, and restoring agriculture and small businesses.

The Nineveh Restoration Initiative, in partnership with Stand With Iraqi Christians and International Christian Concern, is dedicated to reversing this tide. Our focus on livelihood development, vocational support and sustainable business growth empowers Christian communities to thrive once again in Iraq, laying the foundation for lasting renewal.

Through the Nineveh Restoration Initiative, American FRRME, in partnership with Stand With Iraqi Christians (SWIC) and International Christian Concern (ICC), has launched ten powerful projects aimed at restoring hope and resilience among persecuted Iraqi Christians. These projects provide critical resources, create sustainable livelihoods and foster a sense of renewal in communities devastated by years of conflict and persecution. Together, we’re not just rebuilding homes and businesses—we’re restoring dignity, rekindling faith and empowering individuals to reclaim their future.

ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH: A Beacon of Hope and Healing in Baghdad

Founded in 1864, St. George’s Church is Iraq’s only Anglican church, embodying a legacy of faith and resilience. The church, rebuilt in 1936 as a tribute to British soldiers who perished in Mesopotamia during World War I, was closed under Saddam Hussein and later reopened by Rev. Canon Andrew White. Today, it is led by Canon Faiz Jerjees, Iraq’s sole ordained Anglican clergyman, continuing its mission as a symbol of hope and endurance in Baghdad.

St. George’s Church is more than a place of worship; it is a vital center for hope and healing. It operates a clinic, an elementary school and a Mother’s Union that provides essential services such as a food pantry, home visits and fresh meals.

Since our founding, American FRRME has been a faithful supporter of St. George’s Church, providing financial assistance for its medical and dental clinics, daily operations and elementary school. Today, our partnership extends to supporting the church’s outreach and educational programs. Through this ongoing collaboration, we help St. George’s continue its vital mission of providing essential services and support to the Christian community in Baghdad, ensuring that hope and care are always within reach.
